About RubiksCu.be

RubiksCu.be is a free, independent Rubik's Cube site made by cubers from Hungary, not affiliated with any cube brand. A 3D cube, a solver, a timer and a 7 step tutorial.

An independent cubing project. RubiksCu.be is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any brand or cube maker, and in particular not by Rubik's Brand Ltd or Spin Master, who own the Rubik's trademarks. On this site, "Rubik's Cube" is used as the everyday name for 3x3x3 cube puzzles in general, of any brand.

RubiksCu.be is a free site for playing with, solving and learning the 3x3 cube. It is made by a small team of cubers who also write code. This page says who we are, what the site is and what it is not.

Who we are

We are a few cubers from Hungary, the country where Erno Rubik built the first cube in 1974. We have built cube websites since 2020, and we still solve every day. Some of us are slow, some are faster, all of us like the puzzle. We do not use names on the site, and we do not claim any awards or press mentions. The work speaks for itself, or it does not.

What the site is

Everything is free. There is no account, no login and no app to install. Your solve times and settings stay in your own browser. We never see them.

Not affiliated with the Rubik's brand

RubiksCu.be is an independent fan site. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by or in any way connected to Spin Master, Rubik's Brand Ltd, or any maker or seller of cube puzzles. Nobody at those companies has checked, approved or paid for anything on this site.

"Rubik's Cube" and "Rubik's" are registered trademarks of their owner. On this site, we use the words "Rubik's Cube" the way most people use them in everyday speech: as the common name for any 3x3x3 twisty cube puzzle, whatever brand is printed on the box. Every tool here works the same with a GAN, MoYu, QiYi, a no-name cube from a market stall or an official Rubik's branded cube. When we say "Rubik's Cube", we mean the puzzle type, not a product of the trademark owner.

What the site is not

We are not a shop and we do not sell cubes. We do not take money from any cube maker. If you want to buy a cube, any local toy shop or cubing store will do, and we have no favorite.

How the site is built

The site is plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript. There is no framework and no build step, so the pages are small and load fast on old phones. The solver runs inside your browser as a web worker, and nothing you enter is uploaded. The same goes for the timer and the simulator. If you turn off your internet after the page loads, most of it keeps working.
